Who comes to you with the excavator

Hire an excavator from us and our operator sits in the cab. He comes with the machine and works it until the pit or trench is finished. He is the one you show the pegs to, and the one you tell if the plan has changed.

Digging is his whole trade: house pits, sewer trenches laid to a fall, cellars in a yard. That is why he asks about small things that decide how the hole turns out.

What to expect from him

  • Before the first bucket he asks about pipes, cables and where the soil should go.
  • He digs to your marks and checks the depth as he goes.
  • He tells you straight what he sees from the cab: wet ground, a side that could cave in, a pipe in the way.
  • At the end he shows you the dig, and only then does he leave.

The operator's questions, asked when you call

These are the operator's questions. We ask them on the first call, so he knows in advance what is waiting for him.

What needs digging?
A house pit, a trench out to the street, a cellar or a pond. The answer gives a rough idea of how long the excavator stays with you.
Where is the plot?
The sector or village and the street. They decide the route and the day.
How does it get into the yard?
How wide the gate is, whether there are low wires or branches, and where the excavator can be unloaded near the gate.
What runs under the ground?
Water, sewer, a power cable or gas. If you know where they enter the house, the operator keeps clear of that line from the start.
Heap it on the plot or take it away?
Left in a heap on the plot, for backfill and levelling, or loaded straight into our tipper.
Who meets him on the plot?
Someone who knows the plan: the owner, the builder or the plumber laying the pipes. He is needed at the start to show the marks.

Not sure what to answer? Just say so. The operator looks on site and tells you what he sees.

How the operator works on the day

We pick the day together. Once the low loader reaches your gate, it goes roughly like this.

Excavator bucket resting on freshly dug ground on a plot by a pine wood
  1. He drives the excavator off

The low loader stops as close to the gate as it can. The operator drives the excavator down off the deck and into the yard, along the way you show him.

  2. He walks the plot first

Before he climbs into the cab, he walks with you past the pegs and lime lines, looks at the manhole covers and meters and picks a spot for the spoil heap.

  3. He digs and calls you when needed

He works to the marks and checks the depth as he goes. If warning tape, a pipe or old concrete shows in the ground, he stops the bucket and shows you.

  4. Before he leaves

He shows you the dig, the soil is where you agreed, and the excavator goes back onto the low loader. If the trench needs filling once the pipes or walls are in, we set a separate day for it.

What our excavator digs

What he digs most often on a house plot.

House pit

The builder sets out the outline from the drawings. The operator keeps the sides straight, goes down to the depth asked for and leaves room for the formwork.

  • House
  • Garage
  • Outbuilding

Trenches out to the street or pole

From the house to the water main, the street manhole or the pole. The plumber sets the sewer fall and the operator digs to it.

  • Water
  • Sewer
  • Power

Cellar and pond

A cellar in the yard needs a pit with a way in, a pond needs gentle banks. In both cases you show the shape with pegs or lime.

  • Cellar
  • Pond
  • Pool

Soil loaded, yard levelled

Spare soil goes from the bucket straight into our tipper, and what stays is spread and smoothed over the plot.

  • Loading
  • Levelling
  • Backfill

Questions about excavator hire

How is the price of excavator hire with operator in Chișinău worked out?

It depends on your answers to the questions above: what to dig, how the excavator gets in, where the soil goes and how long the job takes. The operator's work is included in the same price.

Who sits in the excavator's cab?

Our operator, who comes with the excavator and stays until the job is done. If you want to change something as you go, tell him directly.

What should I get ready before the operator comes?

Marks on the ground in pegs or lime, a clear way to the dig, and manhole covers and meters in view. And someone who knows the plan, at least at the start.

Can the excavator load the soil straight into a tipper?

Yes, into our tipper, straight from the bucket, so no heaps build up in the yard.

How long will the excavator stay with me?

As long as the job takes. If there are several digs on the plot, tell us about them all at the start so the operator does them one after another.

A pit, a trench or a cellar? Call and tell us where.

Tell us the job and the village or sector, and we will tell you when the excavator can come and what it costs.
